Veteran flyhalf Morne Steyn produced a flawless kicking display as the Vodacom Bulls claimed their third Currie Cup victory in a row with a win against the Lions at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday night.
The Bulls powered into a 20-0 half-time lead and then hung on to secure a 30-19 victory with Steyn kicking 15 points as they moved up to fourth on the log.

The first half was a low-scoring affair with both sides taking their time to get settled. Eventually, Steyn opened the scoring with a penalty in front of the uprights before the hosts’ dominance was rewarded with tries from hooker Jan-Hendrik Wessels and centre Chris Smit.

Steyn kicked a penalty on either side of half time but the hosts ended the third quarter playing with 13 men after Wessels and flanker Reinhardt Ludwig were sent to the sin bin for repeated infringements.
The Lions made the numerical advantage count after a sustained period of pressure with hooker Michael van Vuuren crossing for two tries in succession to make it 23-12 with less than 15 minutes to go.
